LINDER STATEMENT ON DECISION TO REDUCE FLOW FROM LAKE LANIER

Washington, D.C. - Congressman John Linder issued the following statement regarding Fish and Wildlife's decision that reducing the flow from Lake Lanier will not jeopardize federally protected species:

"Fish and Wildlife's decision that reducing the flow from Lake Lanier will not jeopardize federally protected species is the right one. This will buy Georgians some much needed time."

"It is important for all parties involved to remember that this is not a long term fix. We need to continue working together to reach a permanent solution between Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. It is my hope that this water crisis will serve notice to all Americans that fresh water is a finite resource, and if we do not start planning for future needs now, we will surely be in a much worse situation than we are today."
